Daymond John to share insights

Daymond John, a New York Times best-selling author, President and CEO of FUBU and one of the co-stars on ABC’s popular series “Shark Tank,” will give a virtual presentation to the community at noon Tuesday, Feb. 9. Hosted by the Business and Professional Coalition of Carthage, John will share his insights on current business trends.

John’s talk will include a message of resilience, which is particularly timely. Full details and a registration link can be found here

“Daymond John was one of the Coalition’s first choices for a speaker.”

Bob Lee Jr., Carthage business and professional coalition chair

Bob Lee, Jr., President of Lee Mechanical, is the Chair of the Business and Professional Coalition. He is excited to bring John to the Carthage community.

“Daymond John was one of the Coalition’s first choices for a speaker,” Lee said. “We reached out to him and he was available. Everything came together.”

The presentation comes on the heels of Carthage’s recent announcement of the creation of the School of Business and Economics. As Tom Kline, Carthage’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement, explained, “[The School] will bring distinction to a program that is already well-respected in the community.”

The Business and Professional Coalition was established nearly 30 years ago by Carthage Trustee Emeritus Ralph Tenuta, the well-known and highly respected owner of Tenuta’s Deli and dedicated supporter of Carthage. He sought to bring together business leaders to share resources and build connections.

Tenuta passed away in January 2020. Funds raised through sponsorship of events like Daymond John’s presentation will benefit experiential learning and internships for Carthage students. The mission of the Coalition “is to convene members of the business and professional communities around relevant topics that promote learning, conversation, and relationship-building, in order to lead to a stronger and more vibrant community.”

The next speaker in the series will be Catherine Jacobson, President and CEO of Froedtert Medical System. She will speak in a virtual event at noon on Tuesday, March 30. More details and online registration will be announced soon.
