Generous donation leads to informed families at Bose

Bose Elementary School held a pair of ribbon cutting ceremonies Friday morning for its newly installed electronic sign donated by David and Marilyn Lauer via the Emily K. Lauer Memorial Fund.

The donation, totaling more than $20,000, was made because of the family’s ties to the neighborhood and school where their children attended, and now grandchildren attend.

David Lauer shared that the sign is “a tribute to our late daughter and the enjoyment and friends she found at Bose. The staff at Bose is an amazing one, and we feel blessed that they are our neighbors.”

Emily Lauer, who passed away in 2003 after a battle with cancer, attended Bose during the 1989-90 school year as a sixth grader. David and Marilyn are grandparents of current Bose students. Their daughter-in-law, Allyson Lauer, is a substitute teacher at the school.

The electronic sign will allow the school to easily communicate updates with families and community members on a regular basis.

“This extremely generous donation was unexpected and our entire school community is beyond appreciative of this kind-hearted gesture of the Lauer family,” Bose Elementary Principal Susan Mozinski said. “We cannot wait to begin using this new tool to communicate with our students, families and community members.”

The Emily K. Lauer Memorial Fund was created in 2003 and is used to support scholarship opportunities and nonprofit organizations in the community.
