The Fresh Bar, 5500 Fifth Ave., is a beautiful food trailer focused on healthy food and beverages that is packed with fresh flavor.
Twist Toast — Avocado mash topped with sea salt & red pepper flakes, local farm-fresh microgreens and truffle oil drizzle (Add honey goat cheese for $1).
The Fresh Bar is not only the cutest restaurant on wheels in our community, but they are leading the way in food that is good, and good for you.
After starting the concept in 2019 at the Kenosha HarborMarket, The Fresh Bar came back bigger and better in 2020 with their custom-built trailer that perfectly showcases their clean, classic style.
They’ve continued to grow this summer as well by securing a permanent location on 55th Street and Fifth Avenue in a formerly unused lot that has now been beautified with custom picnic tables and faux grass.
Throughout all this growth, one thing that has remained constant is their dedication to quality of ingredients. The Fresh Bar makes their entire menu from scratch. You’ll never have to ask, “What’s in this?” because everything is exactly as stated on the menu, with no added sugars or preservatives. It’s all simply good food.
One star of The Fresh Bar’s menu is the Twist Toast, a “twist” on a classic avocado toast.
The Twist starts with the toast. A perfectly toasted slice of panini bread that serves as the foundation for everything else to come. Gluten-free bread as well as homemade sourdough are also options for a slight upcharge.
The defining feature of the Twist Toast and other toasts on the menu is the avocado. Yes, avocado is always delicious, but The Fresh Bar’s commitment to quality brings out the best avocado mash you’ll ever have.
While many eateries do things the easy way and order bags of pre smashed avocado, The Fresh Bar mashes hundreds of avocados by hand daily, and it’s worth the effort. The fresh creamy flavor is accented by a seasoning of sea salt and just a hint of heat from red pepper flakes.
Atop the mashed-up avocado masterpiece is a generous sprinkling of flavorful microgreens and a drizzle of truffle oil.
Adding honey goat cheese is an option, but highly recommended. The addition of a sweet element to this savory breakfast rounds out the flavor profile into an absolutely delicious delight.
While the entire flavor experience is amazing, perhaps the best part is how great you’ll feel after eating it. Unlike many culinary indulgences, The Fresh Bar menu will leave you feeling satisfied and energized rather than heavy and lethargic.
The only downside to this Downtown Kenosha gem? It’s only available during the summer months. You’ve only got until the end of September to get your fix, so don’t procrastinate. Visit them this weekend!
Twist Toast is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday for $7.
The Fresh Bar is currently open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. The full menu is updated weekly and can be found on The Fresh Bar Facebook.
