Kenosha Achievement Center, empowering individuals of all abilities, is excited to host its first on-site community event since 2020: a Backyard Bags Tournament, sponsored by Kenosha Firefighters CARE.
KAC’s Backyard Bags Tournament will take place on Sunday, Sept. 26 at noon. The organization welcomes the community to join in on the excitement outdoors at KAC’s main building, 1218 79th St. Guests can expect a day full of food, prizes and family fun.
Team entry into the tournament is $30 and includes a hot dog meal, water and entry into a drawing. Spectator tickets are $5 per guest, so friends and family can come cheer on their favorite team.
KAC’s Backyard Bags Tournament is double elimination. Dedicated volunteers will help keep game play running smoothly and ensure that all courts are uniform and meet official bags regulations.
One-of-a-kind prizes will be awarded to the top-three team finishers. Only one team, however, will go home the true champion. The winning team’s name will be engraved on KAC’s champion trophy alongside previous winners like Just Drive (Jason Melichar and Frank Ruffolo) and Going Postal (Perry Hartnell and Randy Kerkman).
Beer and wine will be available for purchase and additional games and entertainment will be present for families and children.
“There’s a different kind of an excitement surrounding our upcoming Backyard Bags Tournament because it’s the first in-person event we are hosting at KAC in over a year,” KAC chief executive officer Chris Weyker said. “Since April 2020, our events have turned mostly virtual, as with our Legislators’ Breakfast and concert series. Re-introducing KAC’s Bags Tournament is a small step towards the future so many of us have been looking forward to. We are so excited to interact with our community at this event!”
KAC held its first-ever Bags Tournament in 2015. Since then, the event has continued to grow and become a staple in Kenosha’s summer happenings. Although the event was cancelled in 2020, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
All event proceeds help support programs that help children and adults with disabilities succeed.
Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are still available. For more information, contact Marisa Markowski at
