Crimson Jester Productions brings “Out in Public” comedy show to Public Craft Brewing, 628 58th St. Friday (Feb. 25)
The show includes six comedians with music by Beaker, billed as a comedic punk band. The lineup includes headliner Rich D’Amore with Joseph Torres, Emilio Lopez, Darrel Cochran, Ricky Madeja. Jordan Pauley is the evening’s host.
Headliner D’Amore is based in Madison and has performed throughout the area. He has been featured in recent comedy showcases including Madison’s Comedy Week, Comedy for a Cause and Groove Roulette.
Tickets are $15, available only at the door.
This week’s Top Picks feature live music from a wide variety of genres – from indie/folk to blues to country and hip-hop, with the latter two sharing the stage.
Take two diverse styles, put them on the same stage, and wait for magic to happen. Bella Cain and Too Hype Crew share a twin bill Saturday (Feb. 26) at The Brat Stop, 12304 75th St. Doors are at 6 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m. starting with Bella Cain, followed by Too Hype Crew. Both bands alternate playing two one-hour sets each.
Billed as “more than a party band, more than a tribute band,” Too Hype Crew is a tasteful tribute to the fun hip hop and party anthems of the ‘80s, ‘90s, and early ‘00s, featuring an all-live six piece band, MCs, and Fly Girl dancers. Bella Cain is one of the area’s most popular country bands, familiar to live music fans across genre lines.
Tickets are $17.44 plus fees.

Ivy Ford always gives music lovers cause for celebration, and her Friday (Feb. 25) appearance at Fusion also happens to be her birthday party. The show starts at 8 p.m. at the downtown venue, 5014 7th Ave.
Ford is a well-respected blues singer, musician, entertainer. She is a heavy hitter on the Chicago music scene and continues to showcase her talents all over, from New Orleans to a recent Blues Camp in France to frequent appearances in Kenosha.

The beautiful music of Violet Wilder feels like a perfect match for the cozy confines of Blue House Books, at a special After Hours event set for Saturday (Feb. 26) at 7 p.m.
The SE Wisconsin-based iindie-folk trio incorporates piano, guitar, viola, miscellaneous percussion, and lush three-part harmony.

Union Park Tavern, 4520 8th Ave. is shining a spotlight on singer-songwriters with a triple bill Friday night beginning at 9 p.m. with Brittany Lumley, followed by Daniel and His 3 A.M. Saints at 10 p.m. and Spare Animals at 11 p.m.

The Milwaukee Zoo Polar Plunge to raise funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin is set for Saturday (Feb. 26) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. presented by Old National Bank. To register and find out more about the event, please visit the official Polar Plunge website.
Event highlights include categories such as Extreme Plunge, Cool Schools Plunge, Toss Your Boss, and there’s even an option called Too Chicken to Plunge.
In addition to jumping into ice cold water (or watching others try that) to raise money for a good cause, there will be music and food available at the event. All festivities are at the Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd.
St. Patrick’s Day is huge in our area, and events start early! Ashling on the Lough, 125 56th St. has announced two performances of the McNamara McCarthy School of Irish Dance, set for Saturday, March 12 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 at 1 p.m.
