It was another historic weekend for the Parkside track & field team.
The Rangers competed at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in Allendale, Mich., and came away with a fifth-place finish on the men’s side, and a sixth-place finish on the women’s side. It was the one of the best team performances at a conference meet in program history.
The Rangers left the meet with eight All-GLIAC performances, 12 All-GLIAC honorable mention performances and numerous personal bests. Leading the way for the Rangers was Nic Davy, our Kenosha.com Ranger of the Week for the second time this season.
Davy started the weekend by qualifying for the finals in the 200 and 400 meters. The next day, Davy placed second in both events. He also anchored the 1,600-meter relay, earning another second-place finish.
Davy’s efforts would not only earn him three All-GLIAC recognitions, but he was also named the Athlete of the Meet, the first in Parkside history.
As Davy was featured a few weeks ago following his school record-breaking performances, we decided to sit down with him to learn more about his interests.
As winter winds down, the Rangers are preparing for the postseason in all winter sports.
Both men’s and women’s basketball are about to start the GLIAC Tournament on Wednesday (March 2).
Wrestling will be sending Joe Arroyo, Job Ayala, Shane Gantz and Reece Worachek to the National Championships in St. Louis, Mo., on Mar. 11-12.
Track & field will be sending former Kenosha.com Ranger of the Week Carolin Bothe to the National Championship meet in Pittsburg, Kan. on Mar. 11-12 to compete in the 800-meter run.
Baseball is scheduled to play their home opener on Wednesday, March 9 as they host Upper Iowa in a doubleheader.
