Do you want to make a difference in mental health?

The COVID-19 pandemic has helped us realize that mental health is important and could personally affect you or your loved ones. Nearly one in five U.S. adults live with some level of mental illness, from mild conditions to severe disorders. While mental illness can be a personal struggle, it is also a public health issue. We need to view mental health conditions like we view other chronic medical conditions.

Mental illness is something that can be treated and doesn’t need to carry a negative stigma. To make a positive difference in mental health treatment and awareness, we need dedicated and passionate healthcare workers to make a difference.

Nurses Can Make a Difference

When we think of mental health treatment, we may think of psychiatrists and psychologists. While these professionals are critical in the field, nurses are also important and make a big difference.

If you are passionate about mental health and thinking about a healthcare career, you may consider becoming a nurse at Herzing University in downtown Kenosha, Wisconsin. Herzing offers a variety of degree pathways for individuals who are ready to start a nursing career and even for nurses who want to expand their education.

If you’re thinking about switching careers and want to get into the healthcare industry quickly, you may consider exploring Herzing’s Diploma in Practical Nursing. This diploma can be completed in as few as 12 months, paving a fast path with hands-on education that prepares you to become an LPN and get your first job as a nurse.

You might also consider earning your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree to become a registered nurse. There is no wait list for Herzing’s BSN degree, allowing students direct entry into the program. The BSN program can be completed in three years or less and you can earn dual credit that you can apply directly to a Master of Science in Nursing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MSN-PMHNP) degree.

Herzing also offers an Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program for students who already hold a non-nursing bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university. Depending on the credits you’re able to transfer from your prior degree, you can potentially complete the ABSN program option in as few as 20 months.

No matter where you are in your career, a Herzing University advisor will work with you to identify the best and fastest educational pathway for you!
