Rescheduled Picnic in the Park set for Saturday at Petrifying Springs Park

SOMERS — Kenosha County Parks has rescheduled its annual Picnic in the Park celebration for Saturday (Aug. 27) at Petrifying Springs Park, County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced.

The event, which was to have been held Aug. 20, was postponed due to a threat of thunderstorms that evening.

The rescheduled event this Saturday will be filled with family-friendly activities including live music, interactive kids’ activities, fireworks, and concessions aimed to raise awareness and educate the public on the value of parks.

Programming will include food truck vendors as part of the Traveling Food Truck Series in conjunction with the Petrifying Springs Biergarten and interactive activities by local nonprofits.

The Ethan Keller Group

The Brothers Quinn will kick off the event at 4 p.m., playing a blend of Irish, bluegrass, classic country, and blues.

Headlining Picnic in the Park at 6:30 p.m. is the Ethan Keller Group, playing a blend of folk, blues, and rock with funk, jazz, and hip-hop.

The festivities will come to an end with a fireworks show starting at dusk.

Petrifying Springs Park is located at 5555 Seventh St. (Highway A) in the Village of Somers.

Shuttle services for visitors will be provided to the Biergarten and parking areas. Additional parking and shuttle services will be available at University of Wisconsin-Parkside Parking Lots B and C in the Rita Lot.

Picnic in the Park events schedule:

  • 4 to 8 p.m.: Local community partner booths
  • 4 to 9 p.m.: Concessions — 2022 Food Truck Series
  • 4 to 6 p.m.: Live music by the Brothers Quinn (folk)
  • 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Live music by Ethan Keller Group (rock)
  • Dusk: Fireworks finale
