Superstar! Kenosha’s Luke Frederick shines bright in Times Square video

A crowd gathers in Times Square to watch the National Down Syndrome Society Video on Saturday.

Luke Frederick of Kenosha appeared in the bright lights of Broadway on Saturday (Sept. 17) as part of the annual National Down Syndrome Society Times Square Video presentation.

The one-hour video of roughly 500 photographs included children, teens, and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states. The collective images promote the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with Down syndrome in a very visible way.

Luke was pictured sitting for his 2-year pictures with the most perfect and adorable smile.

“It was an amazing experience seeing our sweet baby Luke and all his amazing friends on the JumboTron!” said Stacy Frederick, Luke’s mother.

The photo of Luke was selected from more than 2,400 entries in the NDSS worldwide call for photos. His photo was shown on two JumboTron screens in the heart of Times Square, thanks to the support of ClearChannel Outdoor. The two screens are located above Dos Caminos restaurant in Father Duffy Square. The presentation was also live streamed on the NDSS Facebook page.

The NDSS Times Square Video kicked off the 2022 New York City Buddy Walk, which was held in-person for the first time since 2019.
