Ranger of the Week: Jared Heinzen

The Parkside baseball team travelled to Bolivar, Mo., to compete in a three-game series against Southwest Baptist University over the weekend. The Rangers came away with an 18-8 victory on Sunday — the first for first-year coach Zac Charbonneau. Redshirt senior and Tremper High School graduate Jared Heinzen was an major factor in the Parkside’s first victory of the season as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles, five RBI and two runs scored.

About Jared

Heinzen began playing baseball when he was five years old when his parents signed him up for T-ball. The Kenosha native described the recent road trip as a blessing to get good weather in the team’s first series after being stuck indoors for the last few months.

“We are going to build off of this past series and keep the momentum from the third game going,” Heinzen said. “We are a hungry group that has a lot to prove, and we get pushed to our limit every single day to grow mentally and physically by our new coaching staff. Our coaches show day in and day out how much they care about our growth and success.”

Why Parkside?

Heinzen said he chose to attend Parkside because of how close it is to home as it allows his family to come watch him play as many games as possible.
