Over the weekend, the Parkside men’s golf team traveled to Lexington, Ky., to compete in the SVSU Spring Invitational at Kearney Hill Golf Links. Although the weather was less than ideal, senior Danny Sanicki kept the birdies coming as he finished tied for ninth in a 124-person field. Danny led the field in total birdies made with 10 in two rounds as he finished at 2-over par 146 (72-74).
About Danny
Danny began playing golf when he was six years old. He also played other sports when he was younger, such as basketball and baseball. He started competing in golf tournaments with his twin brother, Steven, in the summer before their freshman year of high school, which is when he fell in love with the game.
Why Parkside?
Danny said he chose to come to Parkside because of how close it was to his hometown of Menomonee Falls. He said the ability to earn a higher education along with compete on a college golf team in his home state is another huge reason why he came to Parkside. “It has been a great experience to be a part of the success of Parkside golf over the past four years.”
When asked about the season, Danny talked about how he and the team are excited to continue the success they had in the fall season. Coming off of a seventh-place finish in a 21-team field, Danny and his teammates are confident they can make a run before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
“It’s fun being around hard-working teammates,” he said, “and helping pave the way for the underclassmen.”
