The Wisconsin Humane Society Kenosha Campus opens up adoptions June 26

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) Kenosha Campus (formerly Safe Harbor Humane Society) will be opening back up to the public on June 26. As a thank you for your patience, we are discounting all adoption fees for dogs 6 months and up by 50% through June 30. We’ve worked over the past few weeks to spruce up the building and immerse our staff in intensive learning sessions ranging from database training to advanced dog handling. Here are a few new things we’re excited about implementing at the WHS Kenosha Campus:

  • Adoptions will be same-day! Every available animal will now be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and given initial vaccinations, prior to being put on the adoption floor. This way they will be all set to go home with you right away.
  • Adult cats no longer have set adoption fees; like all other WHS campuses, you can now name your own fee for cats over 1 year old.
  • We are using an Adoption Profile that can be filled out in advance or on-site. It is merely to collect information to help us in the matchmaking process; there is no longer an application that is “approved” or “denied.” When you stop in, you’ll meet with a staff member to talk through what you’re looking for in a companion and see if we’ve got a match for you!
  • We’re transitioning our website to join the rest of the WHS campuses, so all available animals will now be listed at www.wihumane.org/adopt. You can view all adoptables across locations or you can sort at the top of the page to see only available animals at the Kenosha Campus.

Our hours for adoption are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 1pm – 6pm; Wednesday & Sundays: Closed. We hope to see you soon!
