It’s been about two years since Kenosha.com set out on the hunt for the best gyros in Kenosha. Naturally, the food scene in Kenosha has changed since 2021. We decided it was time to re-valuate!

For those of you who don’t know, a gyro sandwich is an amazing dish consisting of meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie. It’s typically lamb, beef, pork, or chicken depending on what part of the country it’s being served. The United States is generally lamb. The meat is sliced off in thin shavings and served in a pita bread or flatbread. Common ingredients in a gyro sandwich include:

  • Meat: Sliced from a rotating spit.
  • Pita Bread: Soft, warm bread that wraps around the fillings.
  • Tzatziki Sauce: A creamy sauce made from yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and herbs.
  • Vegetables: Often includes tomatoes, onions, and sometimes lettuce.
  • Seasonings: Usually includes herbs and spices like oregano, garlic, and sometimes paprika.
