Kenosha County is located in the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Its population in 2019 was estimated to be 169,561, making it the eighth most populous county in Wisconsin. The county is named after the county seat, Kenosha, the fourth largest city in Wisconsin.

Julia Robinson was installed tonight as the newest member of the Kenosha County Board. An experienced public servant, Robinson was County Board Chairman Monica M. Yuhas’ appointee to fill the board’s vacant 5th District seat. Her appointment was confirmed by the board tonight. “Ms. Robinson is a business owner, has served on the Kenosha Common Council, co-chaired the City-County Homeless Shelter Task Force, served as the vice chair of the City of Kenosha Board of Ethics, and is currently the president of the Kenosha County Board of Health,” Yuhas said. “I believe Ms. Robinson’s character, experience and skillset will best serve both the County Board and the residents of the 5th District.”

Robinson served on the City Council from 1998 to 2008, including a term as council president from 2004 to 2006. She was one of seven residents who applied for appointment to the County Board position, which became vacant with the recent resignation of former Supervisor Brian Thomas.

The 5th District is located on the northwest side of the City of Kenosha. The other applicants were: David Arrington, James Kendall, Patrick Melman, William Merritt, Jason Ottum and Tamara Weber. Yuhas praised all of the applicants, each of whom she interviewed prior to making her appointment, and she encouraged them to become more involved by applying for appointment to other county government boards and commissions.

“I wish to commend all of the applicants on their commitment to their communities and their interest in public service,” Yuhas said. “I couldn’t be more impressed with the dedication and passion each applicant demonstrated
throughout the process.
