MOUNT PLEASANT – John Todryk brings decades of experience with big banks into his new role as Community State Bank VP/Market President.

And the change has been refreshing.

“I really believe at big banks, you’re just a number,” Todryk said. “At Community State Bank, you’re truly
growing a relationship with the customers. It’s not just transactional.”

Todryk joins Community State Bank as successor to SVP/Market President Steve Donovan. Donovan recently announced his retirement and will continue supporting Todryk until his official retirement date in February 2025.

Todryk was welcomed to the bank on Aug. 5. The Waterford resident spent the first two months getting to know his coworkers and customers and making connections within the community.

His goal is to turn those relationships into success stories.

“What I’m most excited about is working with businesses and helping them achieve their goals,” Todryk said. “You give suggestions, solutions and really get to know those people.”

The 1991 University of Wisconsin-Parkside graduate builds on his 30-plus years of experience at
Community State Bank.

Taking an active role in the community has been a focus.

Todryk is a member of the Racine Founder’s Rotary Club and is involved with the Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce (RAMAC) and Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC).

Through RCEDC’s BizStarts program, Todryk mentors young, local entrepreneurs.

“They might have questions about getting started, a financial statement, understanding cash flow or putting their business into a position to get a loan,” Todryk said. “We try and help them every step of the way.”

When he’s not banking or teaching his trade, Todryk enjoys spending time at home with his wife, Sue, and their three children Cody, 32, Madison, 26, and Lindsey, 21.

He’s a die-hard sports fan that cheers on his beloved Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Marquette University men’s basketball team.

It’s not uncommon to find Todryk on his deck, putting good use to his smoker or barbeque grills.

“I do a lot on the Traeger,” Todryk said. “I’ve done so much pulled pork, it’s like I’m pulled-porked out. I also do make some really good smoked beans in the cast iron (pan).”
