Sturtevant, Wis., December 18, 2024 – Blain’s Farm & Fleet is excited to announce that Denise Cherry-Russell, a Kenosha resident and proud veteran, won the “Win Your Wish List” Sweepstakes. Denise, who created her holiday gift registry with her two oldest children, won a $1,000 Blain’s Farm & Fleet gift card, bringing a little extra holiday magic to her family of four young children.
Denise regularly shops at Blain’s Farm & Fleet because “Blain’s sales are amazing!” While she lives in Kenosha, her mother, Donna Garcia, lives in Racine and often joins her as her shopping buddy. Denise chose the Sturtevant store to pick up her prize since it’s close to her mother’s home.
“It took a bit to believe it,” Denise shared about learning she’d won the sweepstakes. “Things like this don’t happen to me. I’m a disabled vet living on a fixed income, so there’s not much wiggle room for the holidays. This gift card means I can make my kids’ Christmas even more special than I could have on my own.”
Denise picked up her gift card at the Sturtevant store, where Assistant Store Manager Derek Leggett and Store Manager Colleen Butts welcomed her. She spent the morning shopping for items on her wish list, which included Pokémon cards, mini skateboards, stuffed animals, LEGOs, and crafts for her children. “They’ll all get what they wanted this year instead of just what they need,” Denise added with a smile.
What makes this story even more remarkable is Denise’s generosity. She plans to use part of her winnings to give back to her community by supporting the veterans’ food pantry that has helped her in the past. “Canned goods, hats, hand warmers—things like that go a long way in the winter,” she said.
Store Manager Colleen Butts reflected on the event, saying, “It was a joy to celebrate with Denise. Her willingness to share her prize with others shows her true character, and it makes my heart happy to see her kindness. We’re thrilled to have been part of her holiday story.”
The “Win Your Wish List” Sweepstakes invited participants to create a holiday gift registry using the Blain’s Farm & Fleet app by adding items and sharing their lists with family and friends. Participants were entered into the sweepstakes automatically, and one lucky winner was selected to receive a $1,000 gift card to purchase items on their list.
When asked what advice she would give others considering entering future contests, Denise encouraged them to try it. “It can’t hurt to throw your name in the hat. At the least, it’s a fun way to get ideas for Christmas gifts!”
