The late Pastor Olen Arrington Jr. first launched Kindness Week in 1997 to commemorate the legacy of Dr. King, Pastor Arrington Jr. lived and preached the wisdom of Dr. King, often quoting “We must all learn to live together as brothers (and sisters) or perish together as fools,” and “The time is always right to do what is right.”

Kindness In a Cup of Coffee
It’s difficult to find examples of kindness in a civil war that killed nearly 750,000 human beings. One item that brought together the combatants of both armies and sometimes led to moments of civility and understanding was coffee. This program describes the methods Civil War soldiers obtained, brewed and shared coffee and how these actions sometimes brought them brief moments of peace, comfort and kindness.
