One of our favorite things about our store being located between Chicago and Milwaukee, is that we get to call so many talented authors local!
Rita is a Chicago-based authors of two speculative fiction novels about extraordinary women. We are currently reading Remembrance for book club, the story of four women separated by decades and generations, but connected by a powerful ability. They are all linked to the village of Remembrance, a town known only to a chosen few who seek freedom. But when the power that protects the village is at risk, the residents’ safety is no longer guaranteed.
We’re so excited for Rita’s upcoming release, The Edge of Yesterday, a haunting contemporary speculative novel about time travel and finding yourself. Rita will be visiting Kenosha during our Independent Bookstore Day celebration on April 26th, stay tuned for more details soon!
Nancy’s sophomore novel, People of Means, just released this week! A propulsive novel about a mother and daughter each seeking justice and following their dreams in 1960s Nashville and 1990s Chicago; perfect for readers of Brit Bennett and Tayari Jones.
Nancy is born and raised in Chicago, where she is currently a brand communications manager for a large nonprofit. Her debut novel, The Kindest Lie, was a Reese’s Book Club pick!
If romance is more your thing, you MUST check out Milwaukee-based author Brittainy Cherry! Her books are perfect if you enjoy heartwrenching love stories that are sure to bring on the waterworks! She began as a self-published author, and was recently picked up by a traditional publisher!
Brittainy’s Elements series recently went viral on TikTok, and her newest novel, If You Stayed, releases in April. Brittainy’s books are perfect for fans of Kennedy Ryan and Lucy Score.
Be sure to stop into Blue House Books to check out our Black History Month display!
February is also of course Valentine’s Day, and we are celebrating with our extremely popular Blind Date with a Book promotion! Stop in to browse our selection of books that are wrapped up so you can’t see the cover. We give you a vague description of the plot, and you take a chance and go on a Blind Date with a Book! This is always one of our most popular promotions, and for the first time, we are not offering deluxe packages that come with the book and bookish goodies such as themed tea, stickers, bookmarks, and more! Blind Date with a Book will run at least until February 18th, potentially longer, so be sure to pop in this weekend!
