Fred Lewis Whitten was born on May 22, 1937 in Georgia and passed away on April 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Fred served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1956-1959. On July 2, 1960 he married his beautiful bride, Janice Taylor in Kenosha. Fred retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1992.
Fred enjoyed gardening, hunting, beekeeping, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice (Taylor) Whitten; his sisters: Louise (Kenneth) Pike, Patricia Hunt, Bessie (Charlie) Russell, Diane (Dwight) Phillips; his children: Garry (Glenda) Whitten and Jodie (Michael) Marquardt; his grandchildren: Jarrett Wood, Jordan (his favorite) Wood, Nick Whitten, and Shannon (Evan) Johnson; 4 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-laws: Anne Whitten, Marie Whitten, Mary Ann Taylor, and Grace (Bob) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Florrie Whitten; his sister Helen Shirey; his brothers: Marvin Whitten, Melvin Whitten, James Whitten, and Lanier Spradlin.
There will be no services per his wishes.
