Ruth Ann Shefchik, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Froedtert South- Pleasant Prairie.
Born on June 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kuchera) Wallo.
Growing up in Kenosha, Ruth Ann attended Jefferson Elementary, Washington Jr. High and graduated from Mary D. Bradford in 1957. She went on to Marion College and graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond Du Lac, WI in 1960.
On February 23, 1963 she married Raymond F. Shefchik at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with 2 children and celebrated 58 beautiful years of marriage.
As a Registered Nurse, Ruth Ann was employed at St. Michael’s Hospital in Milwaukee and St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha. For many years, she was also an incredible caregiver to her parents.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the SASN (St. Agnus School of Nursing) Alumni Association, is a former member of the American Nurses Association as well as the Association of Operating Room Nurses.
Ruth enjoyed RV travel with her husband, visiting 45 of the 50 states. She loved camping in the north woods, boating, knitting and crocheting, and was an avid reader. Family was always the center of her life and she cherished the time she spent with them. Her grandchildren brought tremendous love and joy into her life.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Raymond; her children, Ronald (Jayne) Shefchik of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Christine (Daniel) Adams of Burlington, WI; her grandchildren, Hayden & Natalie Rae Shefchik, and Jason & Connor Adams; her siblings, Kathleen (Robert) Williams of Kenosha, Gerald (Peggy) Wallo of Kenosha; her sisters-in-law, Angie Gregory of Granton, WI, Diann Shefchik of Marshfield, WI, Mary Shefchik of Kenosha, Jean (Larry) Menehan of Racine, Joan (Dave) Abbott of Lanark, IL; her brothers-in-law, Edward Shefchik of Trevor, WI, Emil (Sue) Shefchik of Cedarburg, WI; many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her in-laws, Emil and Hildegard Shefchik, Sr; her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Roger Canfield; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Nina Shefchik, Jack and Eleanor Welch, Art Gregory, Elmer Shefchik, Richard Shefchik and her beloved Siberian Husky, Ranger.
Nightingale service honoring Ruth Ann’s life, will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church 4816-7th Avenue.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. after the service.
A visitation for Ruth Ann will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Interment will take place in St. George Cemetery.
