Ruby Miyoko Peek, 90, of Kenosha, passed away on the morning of June 18, 2021, at Froedtert Hospital in Pleasant Prairie.
Ruby was born in Kumamoto, Japan, on November 25, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Sadayuki and Tsuya (Ueda) Furuie.
On October 18, 1957 she married Edward P. Peek in Japan. They met when he was stationed overseas during his service in the Air Force. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1984.
Becoming an American citizen was a proud moment for Ruby. For the greater part of her life, she was a homemaker and raised two children. She was later employed by ManuTronics, followed by Carthage College, and Lida Manufacturing Corp. After her retirement, Ruby enjoyed several years working for KUSD in food service.
Ruby loved spending time with her family, enjoyed conversation over her delicious home cooked meals, and gathering with her several friends. She was a member of CrossWay Community Church in Bristol and attended Christ the King Church in Kenosha. Ruby lived by “what will be will be” and always made the best of what was. Ruby was an extraordinary lady and anyone who knew her, would agree she touched the hearts of everyone she encountered with her genuine kindness and compassion for others. Her outgoing personality, warm smile, and infectious laugh will be dearly missed by many.
Survivors include a son, her daughter Kathryn Peek, two grandchildren Jade Newhouse and Kailey Stone, one sister and many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by five brothers.
Interment will be held privately at Green Ridge Cemetery. The family will host a Celebration of Life in honor of Ruby’s memory, to be announced at a later date.
