Dayton L. Cheney, 84, of Kenosha, passed away at Parkside Manor with the loving hands of his children upon him, Monday, July 12, 2021.
He was born on August 22, 1936 to the late Carl and Loretta (Wagner) Cheney in Brighton, WI. He was educated in Kenosha County.
On October 20, 1956 he married Barbara Staebell in Racine. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2015.
Dayton owned and operated his own construction company for many years. He was very proud of the fact, he built over 100 homes throughout Wisconsin.
Dayton was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church and had a major role in bringing the yearly car show to St. Therese Festival.
Dayton enjoyed playing cards, fixing toys, deer hunting, ice fishing, rummage sales, traveling to Green Lake, playing guitar and listening to old country music especially to Chet Atkins. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Dayton is survived by his children Michael (Linda) Cheney, Mary (Dave) Ashe, William (Jacqueline) Cheney, Daniel Cheney, Kelly (Joe Nash) Lange, Jason Cheney and Jodi (Michael) Hammond, his grandchildren Amber (Michael) Bradshaw, Ryan Cheney, Bryanna Lange, Karly Lange, River Cheney, Hunter Cheney, Ireland Cheney, Kyle (Hailey) Eidsor and Luke Eidsor, his great grandchildren Fiona Bradshaw and Noelle Eidsor and his siblings Carletta (Nolan) Wallenfang, Bernard (Betty Seitz) Cheney, Thomas Cheney and Geraldine (Harold) Thurber.
He is preceded in death by a son Mark in infancy.
Private Funeral Services were held.
