Raymond Joseph Murphy, 96, of Waukegan, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
Born in Pontiac, MI, on October 31, 1924, he was the youngest child of the late William and Laura (Derocheres) Murphy. He was raised by his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Louise Derocheres on their farm in Rudyard, MI.
Following high school, on August 3, 1943, he was drafted into the US Army and served in WWII. He worked as the motor pool Sgt. and was honorably discharged on April 1, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Carmella (Campola) Murphy and Virginia Jensen-Murphy. On April 16, 2011, he married Dorothy (Howard) Mitchell.
Raymond worked as a research technician for Outboard Marine Corporation. He spent winters doing field testing for them in Florida, and he retired in 1986. He enjoyed model trains.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mitchell-Murphy; a daughter, Carolyn Ziccarelli; two grandchildren, Nicholas Sposito and Deanna Yankunas; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jordan, and Logan Yankunas; a special cousin, Sister Marcelyn Gervais; a sister-in-law, Mary Chang; and is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, grandparents, and wives, he was preceded in death by two children in infancy, Robert Allen Murphy and Mary Louise Murphy; and four siblings, Edith Murphy, Sarah Martin, Lawrence Murphy, and Edward Murphy.
Entombment services will take place on Friday, September 3rd, at All Saints Mausoleum, 3300 Springbrook Road, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, at 11:00 a.m.
