Kenoshans are a hearty bunch. After a jam-packed summer and early autumn full of activities, we are not content to hibernate when the cold weather arrives. We simply move the party indoors.

Beginning Saturday (Nov. 6), Kenosha’s vibrant markets kick off their indoor season, boasting upgrades either in location, amenities or both.
Kenosha Public Market makes its home at The Vault, 625 57th St., for the second year. In addition to the selection of locally grown produce, locally sourced meats and poultry, bakery, pantry items, crafts and gifts, KPM will feature a full bar and downstairs lounge. Parking is available in the adjacent lot and downtown parking structure.
Other amenities include the KPM2GO online store. Customers can browse the online shop, place an order anytime from 1 p.m Saturday to 9 a.m. Fridays, and pick it up at the information booth or curbside. The “market match” program serves those receiving supplemental benefits including families with young children, seniors, and disabled individuals. Those that receive SNAP and/or WIC benefits are eligible to double benefits up to $20 each market day,
“A core mission of Kenosha Public Market is to help provide access to great, local food to all people,” organizers said on the market’s website.
The Kenosha Public Market is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays with the indoor season running through April 30 (closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day).
Kenosha HarborMarket continues to serve the community as it has since 2003, opening its indoor season at the Kenosha Union Club, 3030 39th Ave. The HarborMarket’s upcoming 15th indoor season was detailed in a recent Kenosha.com feature story.
The new location is the biggest of the three indoor winter-season locales for HarborMarket, which made its home at the Rhode Center for the Arts for 13 years before moving to the Masonic Center in 2019. There was no indoor HarborMarket in 2020.
“We will be a weekly shopping destination,” Executive Director Andrea Forgianni said this week. “We will have a little bit of everything, from produce to proteins. Most of the vendors, people will recognize from our outdoor market.”
While the new location marks a first-time move from downtown, the destination is centrally located, has parking directly next to the market entrance and is served by Kenosha Transit.
“This truly is a best-of-all-worlds situation,” HarborMarket Board President Kristeen Morgenroth said in a release. “We’ve got ample parking, a building that’s handicapped accessible, a spacious layout and a newer facility. That offers the perfect setting for our diverse array of vendors.”
The indoor HarborMarket will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through April 30, 2022 (except Dec. 18, 25 and Jan. 1).

A Carthage College tradition since 2002, the annual Lakeside Band Festival concert is set for 7 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 6) at the A.F. Siebert Chapel on campus, 2001 Alford Rd.
The Festival gives young, promising instrumentalists a chance to interact with top performers from America and abroad, including an opportunity for high school students to learn from college performers. This year, the theme of the Festival will be “Find Your Wings.” The festival will end in a concert in which the participants will get the chance to play with Carthage’s Wind Orchestra. Admission is free.

Beer and bacon is certainly a combination worth driving to enjoy.
Beer & Bacon Walk hosted by the Downtown Racine Corp. is set for 1-6 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 6) at 20 locations along Main and 6th Streets. Participants will feature brews from Southeastern Wisconsin paired with finger foods involving bacon.
Participating Wisconsin breweries include: Public Craft Brewing Co, Kenosha Brewing, 1ofUs Brewing Company, Littleport Brewing, City Lights Brewing Company, Lakefront Brewery, Lake Louie, Lakefront, Raised Grain, Sprecher and Tyranena.

The Dunn Museum in nearby Lake County opens their new exhibit, “Ansel Adams: The Early Works” Saturday. Adams (1902-1984) was a photographer who combined his art and the power of nature to elevate landscape photography to a respected modern genre. He is best known for his works during the 1970s, but this exhibit takes a look at his masterful, lesser-known small prints from 1920s-60s.
Dunn Museum hours are 10 a.m.-1 p.m./1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and 12-1:30 p.m./, 2-3:30 p.m. Sundays. On the first and third Thursdays of every month the museum is open from 6-8 p.m. with free admission sponsored by USG. Half-price admission is offered for adults and youth up to age 17 are free on Tuesdays.
