Kenosha YMCA wants to share the wealth of good health. The ninth annual Healthy Living Fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 13) featuring local health professionals and organizations.

In addition to providing information and resources, the many healthcare professionals on hand will offer free screenings and evaluations at the YMCA event, 7101 53rd Ave.
“The Kenosha YMCA Healthy Living Fair is an excellent opportunity for the community to connect with various healthy living based businesses and organizations that target mind, body and spirit,” organizers said on the event page.
The purpose of the fair is multi-faceted, organizers said.
The YMCA hopes to help members of our community be aware of their current health status via health screenings, gain knowledge of health-related issues through interactive hands-on experiences, collect information on a variety of topics to support healthy decisions, learn more about health-related resources and initiatives and indoor and outdoor family friendly activities available in our community.
An important component of both the health fair and the Kenosha community are the products, programs and services available for people with disabilities, as well as their families and caregivers.
“We are excited to welcome several area health professionals and organizations, so be sure to plan lots of time to enjoy and learn how to maintain and improve your health,” organizers said.
Participating organizations include: Profile by Sanford, HearingLife, SuperwellnessV, Kenosha County ADRC, NAMI Kenosha County, Emer Eye Care, Festival Foods, Bedogne Chiropractic, HealthWalkToday, Fred Astaire Dance Studios, WI Talking Book & Braille Library, KRW Tobacco Free Coalition, Modern Woodmen of America, Herzing University and more.
All fair visitors will receive a one-week YMCA pass and raffle entry.

Looking for something authentically Wisconsin, perhaps something to warm musical hearts and souls? Locally grown trio Violet Wilder performs Friday (Nov. 12) at Fusion, 5104 7th Ave., with percussionist Justin Hall and singer/songwriter Embahn. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Members of Violet Wilder describe themselves as “best friends who love to sing & create lush 3-part harmony backed by the warmth of a viola, acoustic guitar, and piano, (with) honest and intriguing songwriting.”

More local talent: The always-excellent KUSD Jazz Festival is set for Saturday (Nov. 13) featuring Mike “Maz” Maher, a founding member of the multi-Grammy award-winning group Snarky Puppy.

Noche de Baile (Night of Dance) promises an enchanting experience complete with lessons and Latin cuisine from 7-11 p.m. Friday (Nov. 12) at Kenosha Creative Space, 624 57th St.
A free salsa class is set for 7 p.m. followed by a bachata class at 7:30 p.m. From 8-11 p.m. those lessons can pay off with a variety of music including salsa, bachata, cumbia, merengue, hip hop, top 40, pop, reggaetón and more played by DJ Diego Villalobos.
Drinks at the bar and local Latin cuisine will be available for purchase, and dancing is open to everyone. Participants are encouraged to “dress to impress.”

Take in the beauty of Madison’s Lake Monona with a jaunt to the 32nd Annual Winter Art Fair Off the Square in Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center’s Exhibition Hall, 1 John Nolen Dr.
The indoor fair featuring more than 100 booths and artists runs Saturday (Nov. 13) 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. including a silent auction, and Sunday (Nov. 14) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is one of two juried fairs sponsored and produced by the Wisconsin Alliance of Artists and Craftspeople, Inc. (WAAC), a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation formed to promote and create contact between Wisconsin artists and craftspeople and the public.
The Young Collectors’ Corner special event is planned for both days. Children 12-and-under may purchase art at child-sized prices without adult supervision.
Admission is $5 per person (12-and-under are free).

Second Friday Lecture: Essayons! The 1st Michigan Engineers, Noon, Civil War Museum, 5400 1st Ave. Free. As the Civil War began, volunteer engineering regiments emerged to fill shortages, including three from the Midwest.
