James E. Robinson, age 87, of Wilmot, WI, passed away on March 31, 2022. Jim was born on August 21, 1934 in Kenosha, WI, son of the late Harold and Kathryn (Willems) Robinson. Jim attended grade school at Fox River Grade School in western Kenosha County, Wilmot grade school, and Holy Name grade school in Wilmot, WI. He graduated from Wilmot High School with the class of 1952.
Jim attended Washburne Trade School in Chicago, IL to become a journeyman lather in the building trades, which he worked as for approximately 15 years for various employers. He then worked for Quality Home Improvement in Pell Lake, WI. He spent some time as an independent home improvement contractor and then worked for Ziegler Construction of Round Lake, IL. He worked as shipping and receiving supervisor for Snap-On Tools of Kenosha, WI for seven years in the export division. Jim also worked at the Wilmot Mountain Ski area, and he and his wife operated the Wilmot Café for a time. In 1973, Jim became employed by the Great Lakes Naval Training Center Fire Department as a professional firefighter. He retired from there in 1987.
On May 20, 1961, he married Marilyn Woods. The couple lived in Wilmot until 1991, when they moved to the Connors Lake area near Winter, WI, where they lived for many years.
Jim served as past secretary and chief of the Wilmot Volunteer Fire Department, was a past member of the Kenosha County Waterfighters association, past member and president of the Silver Lake Sportsmans Club, past member of the Lathers International Union local 72, Chicago, IL, past member of the Fire Fighters Union local F-37, Great Lakes, IL, and recent member of Whitetails Unlimited. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly loved the outdoors.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Fern (Wilson) Robinson and a daughter, Jeannine Robinson; his mother and father; an infant sister; brothers, Robert and Richard Robinson; sister, Joyce Brandes; and his second wife, Marilyn. He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Colleen) Robinson and Randy (Amber Timm) Robinson; daughter, Sherry (Bruce) Harvey; grandchildren, Sarah (Luke) Chelsa, Jill (Broc) Luebke, Jacob Robinson, Chris (Kayla) Robinson, Alex (Marie) Robinson, Zach Robinson, Megan Robinson, Collin Robinson, and Morgan Robinson; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Kathleen (James) Jones.
