Some unique chalk artwork will be created, displayed and judged at Jerry Smith Farm in July.

The inaugural People’s Choice Chalk Fest will be held on the front half of the farm, located at 7150 18th St. (Highway L), on the weekend of July 23-24. The chalk art will be judged, with cash awards presented to the top-rated art.

Judging begins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, and ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, with the winners announced at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. The first-place prize is $500, with $350 awarded for second place and $150 awarded for third place.

Artist registration is now open and can be filled out HERE. Artists must pre-register for their 8-foot-by-8-foot square, submit a $35 registration fee and sign guidelines prior to participation. There are a limited number of spaces available, and they’re being filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is family-friendly, so all artwork must be suitable for public and family viewing. All artists must be at least 17 years of age.

Full guidelines and rules for chalk artists can be downloaded HERE.

Additionally, the weekend-long event is free for the public to attend. In addition to the Chalk Walk, it will also feature a beer garden, grilled food, artisan shops and top summer items available in Jerry Smith Farm’s Country Store.

The event will go on rain or shine. No carry-ins or pets are allowed.
