Francis F. Stieber, 76, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on September 2, 2022 in Kenosha, WI.
Fran was born in Wausau, WI to Harold and Josephine (Rein) Stieber. He graduated from Burlington Catholic High School in 1964. He attended Racine-Kenosha County Teachers College and graduated from UW-Stevens Point with the degree of Bachelor of Science.
For 36 years, Fran taught math at Bristol Consolidated School in Bristol, WI. His ‘Board of Education’ along with the humorous banter between him and his neighboring teacher (and best friend), Virgil Gentz, has been fondly remembered by many students.
Fran was the proud father of twin daughters Heather (Ryan George) Stieber and Heidi (Ryan Grams) Stieber. He is also survived by his partner Mary Baehler, and the mother of his daughters, Marge Stieber. As an only child, many family members filled the roles of siblings, and he cherished those close relationships.
Summers at his cabin in Northern Wisconsin brought him great pleasure. He often sat on his front porch, glass in hand (Coors with a dash of salt), taking in the quiet and peacefulness of the lake. Nothing brought more joy to Fran than sharing this ‘little piece of heaven’ with family and friends. During the winters, he would travel south to Bushnell, FL to be close to his parents. After his parents passed away, he continued to return every winter because of all the friendships he made at Dogwood Mobile Home Park.
Francis will be long remembered for his years of teaching, love of Coors and a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned, joy of fishing, an ability to fix anything and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
A Celebration of Life will be held next year. Details will be made public as they become available.
