Time to Fly Kite Fest

Lincoln Park Ballfields, 6900 18th Ave.
Presented by the City of Kenosha and Kenosha Parks Alliance, open to all. People can bring their own kites, or get one at the festival (courtesy of the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund) to participate in the “Kids Mad Dash” at 12:45 p.m. as everyone attempts to launch their kite at the same time. The Kenosha Kingfish will provide free brats and chips beginning at 11:30 a.m. Culver’s custard after noon, donated by the Kenosha Culver’s on Sheridan Road. Other attractions include a chance to win a kids bike from the Kenosha Professional Police Association free games and activities with the Kenosha Parks Alliance, and the Kenosha Public Library Bookmobile

S.H.I.E.L.D, a new group formed to raise awareness about veteran suicide, will be holding an event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot next to Kenosha Military Surplus, 6527-A 39th Ave. Stevan Nelson and Steven Tindall, two of the founding members, will be on hand to answer questions. There will also be handouts for attendees.

Sensory Friendly Day, 11 a.m.-noon., Kenosha Dinosaur Museum, 5608 10th Ave. this event offers visitors of all ages with complex developmental disabilities, sensory sensitivities, or on the autism spectrum a safe, comfortable environment to explore the museum exhibits during special hours before the museum opens to the general public. Where possible, lights will be dimmed and the sound turned off. Signage will be posted for those areas with ound or there other sensory triggers. Trained staff will be available to help visitors navigate the museum and offer supportive resources (noise-cancelling headphones, fidgets, weighted blankets, quiet spaces), as well as opportunities for sensory engagement during exploration of the museum.
