Luis Rodriguez, 80, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Mezquital, Durango, Mexico, on December 7, 1941, he was the oldest of 12 children to the late Martin Rodriguez Gutierrez and Maria Isabel Caldera Rodriguez. He was educated in the schools of Mexico.
On May 25, 1968, he married Maria Esperanza Corral in Tierra Blanca, Durango, Mexico. Together they moved to Chicago in 1978 and retired to Kenosha in 2008. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2019.
Luis had a strong work ethic and was always employed to provide for his family. He set-up the American Dream for his children and ensured they all received proper education. He was a positive and care-free man who enjoyed simplicity and only wanted to see his children happy.
Survivors include four children, Martha (Juan)Herrera of Kenosha, Laura (Jorge) Estrada of Beloit, Luis (Theresa) Rodriguez of Kenosha, and Brenda (Juan) Zamudio of Lansing, IL; and twelve grandchildren, Jasmine Estrada, Luis A. Rodríguez, Rachel Rodríguez, Juan D. Herrera, Christina Rodríguez, Ivan Estrada, Adan Herrera, Natalie Rodríguez, Adrian Estrada, Alexis Zamudio, Andy Zamudio, and Isabella Estrada.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 7117 14th Avenue, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 12:00 noon. Interment will be private.
