Barbara Joy (Anderson) Opal of Kenosha WI, passed into the loving arms of her Savior at home surrounded by family on January 2, 2023. She was 79 years old. Born to Silas Anderson and Rose Joy (Aiuppy) Anderson on May 19, 1943 in Waukegan IL, she graduated from Zion Benton High School. Barb married her husband William (Bill) Albert Opal on June 17, 1966. Before becoming a mother, she worked as a formula tech in the lab and nursery at St. Therese Hospital, Waukegan. She spent her life caring for others. Barb was an amazing cook, and hosted the best family dinners and parties. She was known for her candor, quick witted humor and selflessness. She loved dogs and babies. Her last wish was to be able to hold her great-grandbaby, which she was able to do as her loving family gathered around in her last few weeks.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents Silas and Rose, her younger brother William Anderson, and Mother-in-law and Father-in-Law Alberta and William Opal. Barbara is survived by her husband William Opal, sons Philip Opal and Mark (Lisa) Opal, her grandchildren Robert Opal, Michael (Aerial) Opal, Breanna Opal, Kyle (Alexis) Opal, her great grandson Vaden Malachi Opal, sisters Judith Philyaw and Susan Hendricks, many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and so many friends who will miss her immeasurably.
