Mary Jo Tillack, 93, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Born in Kenosha on Feb. 2, 1930, Tillack was the daughter of Achille and Mary (Santulli) Yantorni, who immigrated from the Calabria region of southern Italy.
Tillack was a 1948 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha. She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church and was employed at St. Catherine’s Hospital.
On Dec. 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to Erwin Otto Tillack in Kenosha. The couple had four children: Dianne (John) Zampanti of Kenosha, Mark (Tammy) Tillack of La Jolla, California, Nancy (Mike) Casey of Phoenix and Patricia Tillack of Phoenix. She is survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Tillack was preceded in death by her husband Erwin Tillack, daughter Dianne Zampanti and five siblings: Louise (John) Tietz, Carmella (William) Jaskolski, Benjamin (Marie) Yantorni, Henry (Jean) Yantorni and Theresa (Lawrence) Wischmann.
A regular on the golf course and a fierce competitor in bridge and mahjong, Tillack enjoyed staying active (she once hiked the Grand Canyon) and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on March 31 at 1 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. A life celebration will take place on April 2 in Phoenix.
