Her best friend was her daughter, Shelly Pluta. She thought her son-in-law Robert walked on water and she lived to be 88 so that her beloved grandsons Gavin and Cayden would know and have their grandma in their lives.

Outside of her family, Joyce had many talents and passions. She was an amazing arts and crafter teaching painting and owing a craft store called The Attic. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, collecting teddy bears and antiques, especially teapots.
A member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America for many years, she and her husband collected classic cars and took many trips to tour the heart of the country in a 1953 Chevy Belair with friends. Later in life she loved traveling with her family enjoying many trips, cruises, and travels to Hawaii which was her favorite.
