Donald “Don” Perry Sims, 69, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Born in Dallas, Texas on October 27, 1953, he was the son of Jesse Perry and Betty (Skinner) Sims.
Don held a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from Rice University and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following school, he began a career in the pharmaceutical industry that spanned nearly 40 years, during which he held various roles in the areas of Quality and Regulatory Affairs. He loved his work and was passionate about medicine, continuing to stay abreast of the newest advances in medicine even in retirement.
He was a loving father who was happiest shuttling his children to each of their sporting events and other activities when they were growing up. He had a curious mind, always staying up to date on the latest sporting and political news. He enjoyed music, bowling, traveling, and sampling the local restaurants everywhere he went.
Survivors include: Julie Davis Sims, to whom he was married for 30 years; one daughter, Elyse (Gaius) Owie; three sons, Jeremy (Kelley), David (Heather) and Neil Sims; and five grandchildren, Amenze, Adaze, Zy’ar, Uki and Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Perry and Betty (Skinner) Sims, and his son, Evan Perry Sims.
The family will notify loved ones in the future when a memorial service is scheduled.
