Wendy Jane Thomas, 69, of Kenosha, passed away the morning of September 5, 2023.
Born to Stuart and Jane Mekemson (Hall) on May 30, 1954, in Libertyville, IL. Individuals and communities across the nation are mourning her loss.
An incredibly loving and supportive mother and wife- Wendy Thomas lived for her daughters and her family. She was a proud lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, and often traveled to attend their spring training games with her sisters and mother. She managed to raise three amazing women, while working full-time jobs, running a household, carting her kids and their friends to and from school and rehearsals, and still always took the time to settle in her reading chair and pick up a novel at the end of each day. Wendy loved playing cards, doing puzzles, gardening in her front yard, sewing and crafting, and more than anything- attending the theater, music, and sporting events that her kids and grandkids took part in. She was impossibly warm and empathetic, had a sharp sense of humor, and truly felt like home to anyone lucky enough to meet her.
Survived by her husband of 44 years, Calvin Thomas; three daughters, Bethany Thomas of Chicago, IL, Christina Englund of Kenosha, WI, and Katherine Thomas of New York, NY. Also, her beloved grandchildren, Mason and Kira Englund; siblings, Shelle Pentes and David Mekemson, and honorary sister and best friend of 55 years, Betsy Goering.
She was preceded in death by father, stepmother Betty Chan, sister Leslie Allen and brother Jack Mekemson.
Wendy Thomas was the number one cheerleader for everyone in her life, and all the while, never seemed to know just how many fans she had cheering for her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
