Martha “Marty Sue” Ehlert, 70, of Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, October, 29, 2023 at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
She was born on October 11, 1953 to Joe Lewis Thompson and Betty Sue Connolly (Kelly) in Adrian Michigan. Marty Sue received her associates degree in Human Resources from Gateway Technical College.
In her early years, Marty Sue was the lead vocalist for the local High Lonesome country band. Later, she co-owned and operated a flooring company, worked as a restaurant manager for Joan and Ken’s Tavern, and was a shelter coordinator for Women’s and Children’s Horizons. Above all, most of her time was spent raising her children.
Marty Sue loved singing, gardening, cooking, sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and studying the Word of God.
Marty Sue is survived by her mother, Betty Connolly, her son DJ (Nicole) Ehlert, her daughters Michelle Ehlert and Milissa (Timothy) Nieman, her grandchildren Aaron (Kelly) Ehlert, Michael (Shelby) Ehlert, Ashley Ehlert-Kurzer, Andrew Manske, Crystal Ehlert, Alexander (Savannah) Nieman, Carly Nieman, fourteen great grandchildren, her brother Eddy (Bunny) Thompson, sister Brenda Broadway, half-brothers Joe “Danny” Thompson, Justin (Chris) Thompson, and half-sisters Teresa (Bob) Walsh, Sheila Taylor and Audrey Rawlins.
She is preceded in death by her father Joe Lewis Thompson and sister Patricia Ann Thompson.
Marty Sue will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mom, grandma and great grandma as well as a woman of faith.
A Celebration of Life for Marty Sue will be held at Bruch Funeral Home, 3503 Roosevelt Road on Monday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
