John “Jack” Ronald Slowey, 79, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Kenosha on September 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Mildred (Loetz-Slowey) Dwyer and stepfather, James Dwyer. He attended Columbus Grade School, Lincoln Jr. High, and Mary D. Bradford.
He served in the United States Army from December 4, 1967, until he was honorably discharged on November 14, 1969. He then served in the reserves until he was honorably discharged on December 1, 1973. He worked on radios when Russia invaded Czechoslovakia.
On April 11, 1971, Easter Sunday, he married Marla Lee Ecke. Their favorite song was, “You are my Sunshine”.
Jack worked his entire career as a factory worker; 3 years at AMC, 24 years at Young Radiator, 8 years at Frank L. Wells Co. and 5 years at Bombardier (B.R.P. Recreation Products). When factory work slowed in the late 1980’s, he worked in the Wisconsin Dells area setting up mobile homes for a year. He retired on October 27, 2006.
He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, camping, and traveling.
He is survived by his son, James Ryan Slowey; daughter Judith Marie Slowey; three grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary and Amber Friedrich, all of Kenosha and 3 great grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marla, and his brothers, Dennis and Gerald Slowey.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery, Kenosha, WI. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
