Herbert Knautz, 96 years old, of Kenosha, WI passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at his home.
He was born November 7, 1927, in Kenosha, WI, the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Schneider) Knautz. He attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. He proudly served in the United States Army prior to being honorably discharged in 1947. He married Betty (Halvorsen) in May of 1947 and together they raised two children, Ronald and Nancy. Herbert worked for the Kenosha Fire Department for 33 years and retired in 1992.
Herbert loved to spend time with his family and friends. His favorite activity was riding his bike, which he did until the age of 95.
Herbert is survived by his children, Ronald (Karen) Knautz and Nancy (Bradley) DeLong; four grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah) Knautz, Jamie (David) Craig, Amanda (Patrick) Runyen, and Allyson (Paul) Capriotti. He is further survived by seven great-grandchildren, Evan Knautz, Dylan and Nora Craig, Alayna and Molly Runyen, and Lilian and Joseph Capriotti.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and brother, Harold.
Visitation for Herbert will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place the following day at 10:00 a.m. at CrossWay Community Church, 13905 75th Street Bristol, WI 53104. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Salvation Army in Herbert’s memory.
