Donald “Don” W. Andersen, Jr., 76 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born December 18, 1947, in Waukegan, IL the son of the late Donald W. and Margaret (Pullen) Andersen. Don attended Antioch, IL schools and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Don moved to Kenosha and he married Gloria “Jean” Savaglio on September 26, 1970. He worked as a lineman for ComEd for 37 years prior to his retirement.
Together Don and Jean raised three children: Kurt, Kevin, and Kristie. Don enjoyed spending time gardening, bowling, and running on his Nordic Track.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jean Andersen; children, Kurt (Ericka), Kevin (Heather), and Kristie (Scott Trottier); and grandchildren, Isabella, Noah, Bianca, Adriana, and Aiden. Don is further survived by his sisters; Ann Atkins, Mary Palladino, and Jane Cooper.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Andersen, and sister-in-law, Faye Andersen, and brothers-in-law, George Atkins, Tony Palladino, and Terry Cooper.
Don’s family is thankful to have celebrated a final birthday and Christmas with him before his passing. They are grateful for the compassionate care provided by his caretakers, Rhonda & Gabbi, and by his hospice nurses, Beth and Kathryn.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home, 5111 60th St., Kenosha, WI 53144, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Full Military Honors will immediately follow. Entombment will be held privately at All Saints Mausoleum in Pleasant Prairie, WI. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Aurora Hospice in Don’s memory.
