Michael Silkwood, 68, of Kenosha passed away on December 23, 2023, at Froedtert South Pleasant Prairie Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born on August 19, 1955, in Doniphan, MO, the son of the late Noble and Olive (Cullison) Silkwood. He graduated from Doniphan High School in 1973 then enlisted in the United States Navy. Michael married Kathleen Stone on October 18th, 1975, in Kenosha. Mike was a plank holder of the USS Elliot DD-967 and was honorably discharged as an FTG-1 Petty Officer First Class. He received his B.A. from UW-Parkside, and M.S. from UW-Stout. He was a middle school Tech. Ed. teacher for 19 years at Karcher Middle School in Burlington, and finished his career with Racine Unified Schools. He was a horseman, hunter, athlete, pool shark, cribbage champ, boat collector, storyteller, avid reader, music aficionado, loving father and husband of 48 years. Though he was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, he also enjoyed cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He lives on through his wife, Kathy Silkwood of Kenosha; children, Crystal (Megan O’Keefe) Silkwood of Cudahy, Casey (Judhajit Sarkar) Silkwood of Kingsport, TN; sister, Sheila Silkwood of Naylor, MO; and his grandchildren, Thomas, Elliott & Violette, as well as many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Sammy & Sandra; and nephews Keith and Kevin.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, December 29th, 2023, at Kenosha Funeral Services from 2:00PM-3:00PM with memorial services to follow immediately at 3:00PM.
