Eileen Ruth Frederking, 98, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully at Kenosha Place on January 22, 2024, with her loving children by her side.
Born and raised in Kenosha on September 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Evelyn (Ziegler) McGovern.
On October 10, 1945, she married Richard Frederking at St. George Catholic Church who preceded her in death on January 27, 1986. She attended St. Thomas Grade School, McKinley Junior High School, and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. She was a member of St. Elizabeths Church and belonged to the Catholic Woman’s Club in Kenosha and Racine. She also worked at Nash Motors in the Chemistry Lab during World War II. After Richard died, she worked as a caretaker for older women by helping them with all their needs for several years.
Eileen was the first resident at St. Catherine Commons and started the Café (Coffee Shop) there. She worked in it for eight years and took care of the library volunteering in many positions. She was proud to work with several different people at the Wednesday prayer service.
Survivors include her children; Jimmy (Rita McKimmy) Frederking, Larry (Larry) Frederking-Cochran, Joanie Haberski, and “her baby” Jeanie (Wally Jr.) Kukawski; siblings, Thomas H. McGovern, Timothy C. (Bonnie) McGovern, and Kathleen R. (David) White; grandchildren; Richard III (Terry) Frederking, Jody (Robin) Frederking, Brad (Connie) Frederking, Ted (Carrie) Petri, Kimi Ru (Jason) McGonegle, Wally III (Kirstin) Kukawski, Nicholas Kukawski, and Jill Grube; great grandchildren; Morgan, Taylor, Isobel, Seth, Cailyn, Kelsey, Roman, Brielle, Makenna, Madelyn, Brady, Sarah (James), and Ricky IV (Carmen); and great-great grandchild, Brayden.
Along with her parents and beloved husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Richard Frederking Jr.; sister, Jean Marie who died in infancy; her special friend Tony Marabelli; son-in-law Jim Haberski; and daughter in-law, and Linda Frederking.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place privately at St. George Cemetery.
