Constance (Tanner) Sheehan was born in Kenosha, WI to Marie (Hutt) and John Tanner, and was the youngest of four children. She attended St. Mark’s Catholic School and went on to Kenosha High School. After graduating with honors, she was awarded a four-year Music Scholarship at Northwestern University, graduating in 1956.
She was the choir director at Holy Rosary Church in Kenosha, WI. She enjoyed volunteering with Little Theater, playing the lead role in The King and I and South Pacific. Connie also went on to sing with the Chicago Lyric Opera in the 1961.
As a new mother, she taught many students private voice lessons at her home studio. Connie taught music in Pleasant Prairie, WI, Stone School in Addison, IL, and several schools within Illinois District 4. Connie lived in Kenosha until 1967 moving with her family to Winfield, IL, Miami, FL, and Elk Grove Village, IL. Retirement was enjoyed in Naples, FL.
In her early 40’s she married John Sheehan, Financial Director for Cook County, IL.
Connie is survived by her two daughters, Christianna (Dave) Rosochacki and Rhonda (Robert) Burke. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren Austin Hall and Abbey (Jack) Kraus. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
Mom being strong, self-assured, forward thinking and fiercely independent, penned her obituary and planned her end-of-life celebration.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Meadows 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 2020 91st St., Kenosha, WI. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Kenosha, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.org.
