Charles H. Ernst, 74 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI after a long battle with multiple health concerns. He was born and raised in Kenosha.
Chuck is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 55 years, Susan “Sue” (Waldo); his son, Casey Ernst and his significant other, Emily Faber, his daughter Stacey Christian, son-in-law, Brett Christian; grandsons, Camden Christian and Nolan Price; and his best four-legged friend, Bolo.
Chuck began his long career in IT as a Computer Operator at American Motors Corp. in the late 1960’s. He received his bachelor’s degree from Mount Scenario College and after the closing of AMC, he moved on to IT positions in the food service industry, retiring from US Food Service in 2016 as IT Senior Director of Warehouse Development.
Chuck had many passions, but one of his greatest was watching his family grow and enjoying time with his beloved grandsons. He loved family vacations with his wife, children and grandsons. Chuck also enjoyed traveling with Sue and close friends to destinations such as Las Vegas, Branson, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Another passion of Chuck’s was nature. As of late, he enjoyed bird watching, and all through his life he was a very avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many days doing both with close family and friends, but what really excited him was the annual trips he would make with the same group of guys to northern Wisconsin, one week deer hunting and one week fishing. They did this every year for over 30 years.
Chuck is also survived by brothers, John (Dawn) Ernst and Paul Ernst; brother-in-law Frank (Angie) Waldo, sister-in-law, Dorothy (David) Thompson and brother-in-law, Tom Waldo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Angeline (Grudzinski) Ernst and a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon (Russell) Tolnai.
Chuck was blessed to have many other wonderful, loving friends and family members, including cousins, nieces, and nephews, who were always there when support or help was needed.
The family would like to extend thanks to both the professionals at Aurora Medical Center and the Kenosha Senior Living facility. They showed caring, strength, and all worked very hard to help Chuck through his last year, which was a very difficult and challenging time.
Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home with memorial services commencing at 12:00 noon.
