Norman L. Johnson, 81, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on June 20, 1943 to the late Carl and Verna (Sovare) Johnson in Hancock, MI. He was educated in the schools of Ewen, MI and received a Bachelor of Arts from UW-Parkside.
Norman entered the US Army on March 4, 1965 serving during Vietnam and was honorable discharged on March 31, 1971.
Norman worked in the Savings and Loan Industry until it collapsed in the late 1980’s. Then he worked as a loan officer for Johnson Bank until he retired. After retirement he worked at an antique store in downtown Racine for many years. Later Norman worked for Comfort Keepers taking care of people in their homes.
Norman had a love for children and would make-up stories to tell them and have little tea parties. He also had a love of nature, wild flowers growing them all over his yard, going for walks on the beach, but his true love was antiques which he decorated with all over his home.
Norman is survived by his siblings James Johnson, Edward (Joyce) Johnson and Linda Garcia, his sister-in-law Marie Johnson and several loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother Carl, a sister-in-law Dee Johnson, a brother-in-law Keko Garcia and his life partner Orphus Johnson.
A Celebration of Life for Norman will be held on Saturday, July 27th at 3:00 p.m. followed by Full Military Honors at the Bruch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
