Joseph Victor Perse, 82 years old of Libertyville, IL passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at Northbrook Health and Rehab, Northbrook, IL.
He was born July 4, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI the son of the late Victor John and Theresa (Donna) Perse. On April 14, 1972, he married Catherine Martino.
Joe completed his education at St. Francis Seminary, where he received a BA in Theology and graduated Valedictorian. Additionally, he took four years of advanced study to prep for ordination.
Joe will be remembered as a humble and patient man. His natural wit and genuine care for others made him an exceptional conversationalist. A lover of activities that would challenge his mind, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, tinkering, and watching Jeopardy. He was able to fix nearly anything (even after he broke it). Joe loved being outdoors, including fishing and playing multiple recreational sports with his wife and children. While not spending time with his family and friends, of which he adored, you could find Joe at the Race Track! His absence will be felt by many.
Think of him fondly during your next cocktail hour. As he would say, it’s good til the last drop.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Cathy; children, Ken (Susan) Herrmann of Libertyville, IL, Andrew (Liz) Herrmann of Libertyville, IL and Emily (Eric Jenevein) Perse of Libertyville, IL; siblings, Michael(Sue) Perse, Patricia (Jack) Jastrow, and John (Jennifer) Perse; and grandchildren, Carly and Kenny Herrmann and Kelsey and Sydney Donovan.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home with services commencing at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
