Daniel O’Neal, a resident of Kenosha, passed away on September 12th, 2024 surrounded by family at Hospice House. He was 68 years old.
Dan was born on February 22nd, 1956, to loving parents Auda and Geraldine O’Neal in Kenosha. He was educated in Kenosha schools and worked for Abbott Labs and SnapOn Tools, eventually becoming a Chemical Operator at Abbvie. Dan retired from many years of faithful service at Abbvie in 2017. In 1977 he married the love of his life, Carol Haney, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kenosha. Together the two of them raised two wonderful children, Lianne and Jason.
Dan was a very active and involved father and grandfather, and often could be found attending or chaperoning various cheerleading or band events with his family. Whether it was running the concession stand at cheerleading events or driving to Minnesota in the middle of winter for a drumline competition, Dan was always willing to lend a hand for his kids.
Anyone who ever spent time with Dan knows that he loved his speed boat. In addition to his family, going fast in his Hydrostream was one of the great joys of his life. Almost all vacations would involve life jackets and water, no matter the weather, often at his dad’s cabin in Eagle River, Wisconsin. He developed many wonderful and lasting friendships over his years of boating.
Dan was also widely known for his affinity for Margaritas and felt Jimmy Buffet’s song “Margaritaville” could have been his theme song.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Carol, children Lianne and Jason O’Neal, and grandchildren Narelle and Yevonny Segura and Anayeli and Aeris Torres. He is further survived by brothers Michael (Elizabeth) O’Neal and John Hernandez, sisters Karen (Francis) Michels of Vancouver, Washington and Connie (Mike) Willkomm of Bristol, Wisconsin.
Dan’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice Alliance for their dedicated and compassionate care during his final days.
A Celebration of Life to honor Dan will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 3PM to 6PM at The Parkway Chateau (12304 75th St, Kenosha, WI 53142). Our family invites you to leave your tears at the door and come celebrate the life of Dan. Bring your best story or memory as we honor the legacy he has left behind.
