It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert L Robinson II.
Robert was born on September 8, 1948, in Rockford IL. He was raised and lived his life in Kenosha, WI., where he touched the lives of his family and friends.
On September 21, 1974, he married Charmaine (Gelsone) Robinson.
He was a member of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church.
He graduated from Tremper High School and then became a member of the Air Force as a medic delivering babies. He later earned two associate degrees in marketing and accounting from Gateway Technical College.
Robert worked locally for American Motors and then Chrysler until the time the assembly plant closed in 1988. He began as a union steward and worked his way up to supervision, a title he would keep throughout his future career. He retired at the age of 62 from Ocean Spray in Kenosha. He took great pride in his work, both professionally and personally. One of his greatest joys was keeping his yard in picture perfect condition. He would always get compliments from people walking by.
Robert was a victim of a drunken driver that caused life threatening injuries in 1994. He made a miraculous recovery in 5 months, exceeding the doctor’s expectations of a 9-month recovery. Due to the need for blood during this time he became a regular blood donor for years, giving back to those in need.
He was a devoted father and grandfather, always showing up for those special moments. He loved to watch his grandchildren play in their different activities.
He loved his Brewers and Packers, enjoying games with his “pal” Rob III at old County Stadium and American Family Field, as well as Packer Sundays. In addition, he loved golfing with his children and later grandchildren. He enjoyed his last four years living with his wife next door to his caretaker and daughter Marisa and family. Towards the end he was looking forward to playing golf with his father and father-in law in Heaven. Robert did not lose his fight with cancer but won because where he is now cancer can no longer reach him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Charmaine, son Robert (Heather) Robinson III, daughter Marisa (Paul) Nelson, four grandchildren, Luke and Isaiah Robinson, Mason Trottier, Malia Nelson, and 5 bonus grandchildren Ashley, Dan, Reese, Jack, and Clay, 3 brothers and a sister, many nephews, nieces, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert L Robinson and Beverly Robinson and his in-laws Richard and Jean Lindgren.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to our dear friends Dr. Peter Mariani and Father Tony Pizzo for all their wonderful support and assistance, as well as Robert’s wonderful doctors, Dr. David Knight and Dr. Anna Silenzi who provided exceptional care for him. The family would also like to thank Hospice Alliance for making him so comfortable in his final days.
“We will always carry your memory in our hearts.”
Per Robert’s wishes, private services will be held.
