Michael Rock, 77, a long-time resident of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, November 7th, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was Born on April 28, 1947, to Daniel and Betty Rock, He grew up in the Kenosha-area and graduated from Tremper High School. Within weeks, he went on to serve his country with distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His military service earned him the prestigious Purple Heart, a recognition of his sacrifices, and he remained a proud Marine throughout his life, embodying the motto, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”
Michael was a devoted member of Lake County Baptist Church for nearly fifty years, where his faith played a central role in his life. His love for Jesus was unwavering and incorporated in all aspects of his life and projected to everyone he loved. Michael has read through the entire Bible (then re-read the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs), at least once a year for over 45 years.
He also had a long and successful career at Case Corporation, working there for over four decades, a testament to his loyalty, dedication and work ethic. His professional accomplishments were only matched by his commitment to his family and community.
His marriage to Susan was a marriage of faithfulness, true love and laughter. The “refining fires of life” created a love that somehow grew more each and every day for the 24 years they were together. His last day on this Earth was a wonderful day! Filled with sunshine, love, friendship, a deeper appreciation for our beloved America and laughter to the point of tears! Along with Jesus, Michael helped Susan to live each day, better than the last. His constant prayer for EACH of his children, grandchildren and those he loved and cared for—was to serve Christ. Make thoughtful life decisions. Be a productive member of society. Be kind. Be safe. Stay healthy. If he was talking to someone who was having troubles, he gave simple but very effective advice. He always said, look into the mirror, because the only changes YOU can make are made by the person staring back at you. He was a precious and Godly man. Sadly, this kind of man is a dying breed but Michaels faithful prayers will be answered for generations to come.
His hobbies included listening to music, going to the gym several times a week, sending Facebook reels to his children, going to Veterans’ events, enjoying weekly doughnuts or pizza with his grandchildren, cheering for the Cubs & Bears, driving across America with Susan, but most of all – spending time with family & friends.
Michael’s leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his Siblings: Pat, Matthew (Michelle), and sister-in-law, Carol. Wife: Susan.
