Virgil was always trying new things- He grafted apples on to other trees, made maple syrup from maple trees, turned old refrigerators into smoke houses to smoke fish. Virgil loved to do crossword puzzles; he enjoyed doing picture puzzles with his daughter Elizabeth.
Every year Virgil would pack up the entire family and go on week-long camping trips (that he planned all year long) around the entire country- from Niagara Falls to camping at the Gulf of Mexico.
