Marjory (Marge) C. Becker, 92, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Brookside Care Center.
She was born on October 12, 1932, in Caledonia, WI to the late Michael and Viola (Burr) Fischer. She was the second of seven children: Doris (Eugene) Clazmer, Jim (Delores), Chuck, Mildred, Tom (Merrillyn) and Bob (Judy).
She attended elementary school in Racine and moved to Kenosha when she was 8 years old. She graduated from St. Thomas Catholic School in 1946. St. Thomas awarded her with a scholarship to St. Catherine’s High School, which helped to continue her Catholic education.
Marge and her sister Doris took the MRK train to Racine each day to St. Catherine’s. They attended Mass every day, as part of their curriculum. She enjoyed collecting rosaries and holy cards. Any extra baby-sitting money would always mean a new rosary for her collection. Marge was the valedictorian of her graduating class.
Marge’s first job was at the Simmons Company followed by the Kenosha Abstract Company. She took great pride in her career at the Kenosha County Courthouse. She loved to travel and collected many photos from her trips to Colorado, New York and Niagara Falls.
On February 20, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church, she married Helmuth A. Becker. The couple had six children: Paul, Mary, Tricia, Bernadette, Tim and Jane. Marge enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing for her family. Any visitor to their house would be offered fresh homemade bread, cakes and other sweets. She loved knitting, crocheting and crafting. She especially loved making baby sweaters, scarves, mittens and slippers.
Most of all, Marge loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them. She always had special crafts, games and treats ready when they visited her house.
She is survived by her brother, Bob (Judy) Fischer; two sons, Paul (Suzanne) Becker and Timothy (Tammy) Becker; four daughters, Mary (James) Rutchik, Patricia (Paul) Herzfeld, Bernadette (Philip) Gagliardi, Jane (Anthony) Molinaro; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Helmuth; her parents, Michael and Viola; her sisters, Doris and Mildred; brothers, Chuck and Tom (Merrillyn); and grandson, Joseph Rutchik.
